12.21 Happy Winter Solstice

The word solstice combines the Latin words sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still).

In the northern hemisphere the sun has reached its lowest point. It's a point of stillness before it tilts over and increases again. It's like the tiny moment between the inhale and the exhale where there is nothing but stillness.

It's a time to pause but also to celebrate. Using the Gregorian calendar, we celebrate January first as the New Year. It's our fresh start and clean slate with new intentions for the year to come. But if we look at what nature does it's not very surprising that the winter solstice has been the time for planting and regeneration in many cultures.

The winter solstice kicks off Capricorn season. Just like the big four seasons, the twelve astrological seasons aka zodiac signs reflect and teach us nature's wisdoms. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn and is all about building structure and a strong foundation. We can only grow high with a strong and healthy foundation.

✨Ritual for New Beginnings

1. Clear your home or space with either sound or smudging, place a bowl with sea salt in each room and for some extra in each corner for 24 hours. Remove the salt afterwards (don't eat it!!)

2. Keep a cleansed Selenite crystal in your space

3. Hold a Rhodonite crystal or create a crystal grid with Rhodonite and write down your intentions for the new season or year. Feel into your intentions (don't skip that one)

4. Keep the Rhodonite with you in your pocket, purse, or in your room and come back to your intentions
